How it dies

Everything carved into the contract: supply, the transfer hook that ends Mori's life, a slot converter and the questions people ask before a funeral.

Mechanics

Death, written in code

The token runs on Token-2022 with a transfer hook. The hook checks the clock on every transfer and refuses once the death slot arrives.

  1. Born on Token-2022The mint is created with the transfer hook extension pointing at the Mori program.
  2. The hook checks the clockEvery transfer calls the program, which reads the current slot and compares it with DEATH_SLOT.
  3. The death slot arrivesEvery transfer is rejected. Nobody can buy, sell or send $MORI again.
  4. The heirs are recordedThe frozen balances become a permanent snapshot of heirs, ready for a possible reincarnation airdrop.
// transfer hook: runs on every transfer
pub fn execute(ctx: Context<Execute>, _amount: u64) -> Result<()> {
    let slot = Clock::get()?.slot;
    if slot >= DEATH_SLOT {
        return err!(MoriError::Deceased);
    }
    Ok(())
}

// 100 days × 86,400 s ÷ 0.4 s per slot
pub const LIFESPAN_SLOTS: u64 = 21_600_000;
pub const DEATH_SLOT: u64 = BIRTH_SLOT + LIFESPAN_SLOTS;
Slot converter

Is Mori alive then?

Solana counts time in slots of roughly 0.4 seconds. Convert a date to an estimated slot, or a slot to a date, and see whether Mori was alive at that moment.

Estimated slot —
Estimated date —

Demo values: birth slot , death slot . Real slot times drift, which is why the contract uses a slot number rather than a date.

Fair launch

Liquidity added and burned, mint authority revoked, contract address published here.

Day 1

The Christening

Holders vote on Mori's full name.

Day 81

Graveyard opens

The epitaph wall starts collecting submissions and votes.

Days 95–99

Epitaphs go on-chain

The top 50 epitaphs are written as memo transactions.

Day 100

Freeze and snapshot

The hook starts rejecting transfers. The list of heirs is published.

After

The heirs decide

Whether Mori stays dead or comes back is up to the community.

FAQ

Asked before the funeral

What happens to my tokens after Mori dies?

They stay in your wallet forever, but you can't transfer or sell them. Your balance goes into the list of heirs.

Can I sell before the funeral?

Yes. Until the death slot, trading is completely open. Some people leave in the last days, others stay for heir status. That tension is part of the story.

Can the team extend Mori's life?

No. DEATH_SLOT is fixed in the hook program, and its upgrade authority is revoked after the audit. Nobody can bring Mori back early.

What is the reincarnation?

An idea for a next token airdropped to the heirs. The community decides after the funeral. It's not a promise or a guarantee.

Why make a token like this?

Almost every memecoin dies, just quietly and badly. Mori does the same thing honestly, on schedule and with a ritual.

Is it safe?

The contract is audited before launch. Still, any memecoin is extremely risky and you can lose everything you put in.
